MANGROVEGALLERY has invited Hong Kong artist Mark Chung for a two-month residency in Wanxia Village. Presented as an Open Studio, the project showcases a selection of works at varying stages of completion, created while the artist worked between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Mark Chung’s practice explores material experimentation and perceptual experience, working across photography, video, silkscreen printing, and neon installations. He engages with materiality, spatial construction, and formal structures, establishing a visual language both structured and experimental. In his spatial arrangements, Chung opens up multiple ways of perceiving space. By manipulating light, imagery, and materials, he fosters a dialogue between material tension and conceptual ideas, inviting viewers to reflect on their perception and experience of space.
