Nevin Aladağ

At He Art Museum

October 1st, 2025

MANGROVEGALLERY’s represented artist Nevin Aladağ participates in the fifth anniversary exhibition of He Art Museum (HEM), The Roots Know More. Opening on October 1 2025, the exhibition brings together works by over a hundred artists from around the world. Spanning regions and eras, it takes Guangdong as a point of departure to extend ‘Global South’ into broader geographical and cultural territories, seeking to present a vision of modern and contemporary art from non-Western perspectives. Through its multi-unit narrative structure, the exhibition showcases how artists construct distinctive modes of observation and expression within the context of globalisation, exploring the complex relationships between the individual, society, and history. The exhibition is on view through February 28 2026.

Aladağ’s practice engages with questions of urban space and sociocultural boundaries, interlacing sculpture, textile, video, and sound. Her works invite viewers to examine the boundaries between form and function, aesthetics and politics. This exhibition features her works You May Say I’m a Dreamer (2014) and Social Fabric, cosmic green (2020), which continue the artist’s sustained exploration of foreignness, social structures, and individual identity.
