Biography
Fang Kai, born in 1983 in Lu’an, Anhui Province, he graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Nanjing University of the Arts. He now lives and works in Nanjing.
Fang Kai draws nourishment from traditional Western paintings and exploits the interaction between different media to continuously push the boundaries of the language of painting. Through his portraits and landscapes, Fang Kai captures life in its dark and deep surroundings. The personal narratives shimmering in his images are intensely atmospheric and contagious. His works have been exhibited at institutions including Guangdong Museum of Art, Wuhan Art Museum, and Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, and he has held solo exhibitions in Lin & Lin Gallery, Yibo Gallery and MANGROVEGALLERY. Fang Kai’s works have been collected by private collections in Asia, Australia and Europe.
